Dear friends and partners in mission, The scale of Pakistan´s flood disaster has beaten the degree of the 2004 tsunami for days now. The flood trails from north to south throughout the whole country. Up to now, more than 20 mill. people are victims of the flood disaster, with numbers increasing daily. Some places where we have been with RTU to evangelize and where new churches have emerged are affected as well.
People lost everything and they are lacking food and shelter. International aid is making slow progress. Pakistan´s government is not master of the situation. As the monsoon season is only to end in September, the described conditions persist. Now, our team in Pakistan is on-site and inducing first relief efforts to meet immediate needs and supply food for families who have survived. We of RTU have it on our hearts to invite you to join in aid. Please read the following report from our organizer at Pakistan: Lately, four Pakistani provinces were afflicted by severe floods: Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Pakhtunkwha (round the northern regions). The UN said that these were the worst flooding since 80 years. 96% of the city of Noushahra was flooded as well as all of the northern region were many of our churches resided. There, thousands of believers are without food, medical provision and shelter. People literally live open-air, on the streets. The enduring monsoon makes matters worse. It is the same state of things in the southern and northwestern parts of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan.
Responding to urgent emergency calls from our churches located in the flooded areas, RTU, together with the Pakistani Pentecostal church, has made a decision to ask for God´s help for the provision of 20,000 families with food. 1) Flour 2) Rice 3) Lentils 4) Edible Oil 5) Tea 6) Sugar These things will be boxed and allotted to last one week for a family. We will be distributing them at the city of NOUSHAHRA (in the North) and Mianwali (located in the northwest of Punjab). In distribution we will not differentiate between Christians and Muslims. The costs for one food box amount to 1,500 Pakistani rupee (approx. 13€). Under the supervision of RTU, volunteers from different churches will dispatch the food boxes with rented trucks and give them to families in need. - Khalid, organizer for RTU in Pakistan Dear friend and partner in mission, If you want to help us with a love offering we kindly appreciate your help.
